Van Van Ain't Come To Play...

Now signed to MC Lyte's company, Van Van is ready to take to centerstage!

Adorably cute, pretty in pink, and more than ready, willing, and able to handle the popularity that comes with being a viral sensation, Savannah McConneaughey, the five-year-old who is known to millions as Van Van, has captured the hearts of fans who are in awe of her impressive freestyle skills.

The North Carolina resident is one of the youngest children to enter the music world, but don't let her tender years fool you; she is handling her business.

Her dad, Reggie, explains to Compulsive, "She was two years old and looking at YouTube videos, singing the songs word for word, and I said to my wife, Kenya, 'We should work with her.' This was during the time of COVID-19 when I was at home. And her gift just came about. I was like, 'Yo, we have to build on this gift.'"

Inspired by Nickelodeon stars such as Dylan Gilmer (Young Dylan) and Alaya High (That Girl Lay Lay), Van Van recalls coyly telling her dad, "I want to make music, too."

"That's when we took her gift and expounded on it since we felt she was the next in line. We were shocked about how popular she has become at such a young age," he shakes his head in recollection.

The YouTube and TikTok star's kid-friendly tunes, "Pull Out The Keys" and "Playing Outside every day," melt hearts, as does the effervescent yet mature recording artist during our one-on-one Compulsive convo. When asked about her favorite song, she says, "That's a hard question."

But she animatedly confides that she loves having her mom style her hair in two pigtails and has a ball attending junior kindergarten, where she enjoys using her artistic ability to color and draw.

Fans may also see her buzzing around town on roller skates, riding her scooter around the neighborhood, and taking selfies with those who recognize her when she's out and about.

Her proud mom, Kenya, isn't really surprised about her daughter's success, which came to the attention of iconic recording star/actor/philanthropist MC Lyte, who swiftly signed her to her company,

Although no one knew what type of impact the McConneaughey's eldest daughter (she now has a baby sister) would have on the world, it was evident that she was a child prodigy, Kenya confides, "I knew Van Van was special when she was born. I noticed it when she started talking or probably before then. She went from not doing anything to walking, so she didn't crawl. And then when she started talking, she started saying full sentences, and she could sing. I could see that she was not like other children at her age. And the friends that she actually has are older than her."

In terms of her moniker, Van Van, Kenya recalls, "I think that her dad gave her that name. I call her Vanna since her real name is Savannah." Reggie adds, "Savannah was just too long, so I just called her Van Van for short."

The couple say that Van Van's unique personality and talent have attracted numerous people who were interested in working with their daughter. Still, Reggie noted, "We just always say, you know, God's gonna send us somebody that's right for us. And He did. They've been taking care of Vanna."

Their association with MC Lyte and her business partner Lynn Richardson, President/COO of MC Lyte's Sunni Gyrl entertainment and celebrity management firm, has been fruitful thus far, and Van Van has had an opportunity to move in circles with such famous faces as Queen Latifah, YoYo, Kerry Washington, and many other prominent household names. Expect to hear more music from Van Van later in the year, as she surges ahead, crushing the competition.

After all, her name is Van Van, and she's not playing!
